Give your best for God in everything

We always want to give our best in whatever we do, but do we have a scriptural understanding of what it means to do our best? Col.3:23 says, Whatever you do, do it with all your heart – that’s the first part of doing your best. It’s what you do with all your heart. The verse continues to say, “Not for men”, which means you are not doing to impress people – This is the other part of giving your best for God. It’s about what you do and also what you don’t do.

In Gen 4, when it was time for Abel and Cain to do their best for God, Abel did what was right. He gave with all his heart but with Cain, it looked like he gave the best but God knew Cain’s heart. He didn’t give with ALL his heart. It may have looked impressive before others as well but he didn’t do what was right(Gen.4: 7 NIV). Doing the right thing also means that we do it sincerely and honestly, without comparing ourselves with others. We should not be like Cain who compared himself with Abel and then went on to kill him. Comparison triggers jealousy and sometimes we may not know what we are doing.
Doing our best for God involves 3 things:
1.Doing that which is right in the eyes of God
2.Doing with all our heart
3.Not doing to impress people.

In all that you do, how can you give the best for God? Do the right thing with all your heart unto God and not for impressing people. When you have such an attitude for everything in life, you are doing/giving your best for God in everything and leaving the rest to God who rewards you in due time(Col.3:24).
